Some good pre-Thanksgiving news for social media managers, with Elon Musk announcing that, soon, URL previews on X will include the post headline once more.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In an upcoming release, ???? will overlay title within the upper potion of the image of a URL card<\/p>\n

As you might recall, on the request of Musk, X removed post headlines and preview text back in October<\/a>, which has had a major impact on how publications and social media managers share links within the app.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In Elon\u2019s view, link previews are more \u201cesthetically\u201d pleasing<\/a> without the text elements, but without them, it also signifies that no person knows what the heck a story is about, unless the poster explains such within the post.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Which could make for more original posts, nevertheless it\u2019s also meant that many social media managers have resorted to workarounds where they direct users to tap on the image to see the post.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As such, re-adding headlines can be a welcome return, but why the change of heart from Elon on this?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

My guess is that posts like this from Elon\u2019s own account:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Have led to confusion, so he\u2019s decided to revert back.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Which is a surprising about face from Elon, who\u2019s to this point held firm on all of his decisions, even the bad ones, despite many, many users voicing their opposition to such. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps he\u2019s turning over a brand new leaf, though probably, it\u2019s just a private preference that he\u2019s decided to implement, based on personal experience.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Which appears to be how most of his decisions at X have come about, but at the least on this case, the end result is a positive one for everyone else as well.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
