While back in Zimbabwe, she attended Bible School and was trained for missionary work. \u201cAfter I began traveling on the mission field, I later learned that the cultural shifts I faced were training me to be flexible and capable of relate well to different societies,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s been an awesome journey, and I\u2019m glad I went through all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>That flexibility has lent itself to Vilika\u2019s profession in tech, which began in 2003 when she worked for GoDaddy.<\/strong> \u201cThe corporate was very small. This was back in Arizona. They only had two offices. That\u2019s where I learned to code, and where gained all the HTML chops I needed to construct web sites,\u201d she says. After that, she went on to work for Major League Baseball, doing tech support for MLB.com.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, Vilika is the Content Marketing Manager for <a href=\"https:\/\/theeventscalendar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Events Calendar<\/a>.<\/strong> \u201cWe\u2019re the makers of the primary calendar plugin for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nexcess.net\/solutions\/wordpress-websites\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">web sites built with WordPress<\/a>,\u201d she says. \u201cMy job is to market our product through various varieties of content, including videos, blog articles, social media, email marketing, and more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s work that Vilika finds rewarding.<\/strong> \u201cI really like making things which can be changing the world. I do know calendars aren\u2019t saving lives, however the proven fact that I\u2019m involved in a project that hundreds of thousands of individuals are using all across the globe is basically exciting,\u201d she says. \u201cI also like that with tech, it\u2019s an industry that\u2019s not going anywhere. It\u2019s going to turn into more essential and more vital.\u201d It\u2019s been exciting for her to get a front-row seat to see how a tech product gets made and the way much work goes into tiny details. \u201cThe teamwork that comes into play when deploying a new edition or a brand new update is just amazing,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faith and family are grounding forces in Vilika\u2019s life.<\/strong> \u201cWhat motivates me essentially the most besides my family\u2014my husband and my children\u2014are the goals and visions I even have for my life.\u201d But she attributes her profession success to God. \u201cI believe since I used to be born, I\u2019ve been taught to rely upon God with all my heart. I\u2019ve prayed through almost every situation. My relationship with God is important to my success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>She is most pleased with her faith-based work, specifically her work with <a href=\"https:\/\/fifmi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Forward in Faith Ministries International<\/a>.<\/strong> \u201cI used to be an element of getting the web site up and running, and have been involved in web development. I\u2019m pleased with the work that I did since it impacts lives. I\u2019m also really pleased with the media work we did with teams in Zimbabwe and South Africa,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Her absolute favorite option to spend the day is together with her family.<\/strong> \u201cI really like hanging out with my husband and the youngsters and treasure every opportunity for us to spend quality time together,\u201d she says. And for Vilika, it\u2019s crucial to construct in time for quiet and private reflection. \u201cThat\u2019s been such an enormous life lesson for me\u2014find time to disconnect, to meditate. For me, that\u2019s spending time within the presence of God. Especially now, once we\u2019re continuously surrounded by gadgets and computers and phones and televisions, it\u2019s really essential to take time for private reflection away from all the noise.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vilika thinks the longer term is promising for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liquidweb.com\/blog\/category\/liquid-web-culture\/women-in-technology\/\">women in tech<\/a>, and he or she sees WordPress specifically as being a priceless tool for ladies inquisitive about exploring tech careers.<\/strong> \u201cI\u2019ve been encouraging people to explore WordPress, which lets you quickly and simply turn into a business person. There\u2019s loads of financial potential and opportunity,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p><strong>She believes that tech is a superb space for ladies to indicate their incredible capabilities.<\/strong> \u201cI believe we\u2019ll see loads of female tech entrepreneurs doing big things.
