There are several situations and disorders that may affect people\u2019s bite and the harmony of their smile and face. Mandibular prognathism is considered one of these alterations. What’s it? What are its fundamental causes?<\/p>\n

This can be a condition that\u2019s characterised by the presence of a lower jaw that\u2019s too large or too far forward in relation to the upper<\/strong> jaw<\/strong>. The jaw protrudes and affects occlusion and facial aesthetics. We\u2019ll inform you more about it in this text.<\/p>\n

What’s mandibular prognathism?<\/h2>\n

The word \u201cprognathism\u201d comes from the Greek \u201cpro,\u201d<\/em> which implies \u201cforward,\u201d and \u201cgnathos,\u201d<\/em> which implies \u201cjaw.\u201d This disorder can also be often known as \u201cskeletal class III malocclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n

As we already told you, it\u2019s the extension or protrusion of the lower jaw forward. This protrusion causes the chin to protrude excessively and noticeably on the face<\/strong>. Often, that is as a result of excessive growth of the lower jaw.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, it will probably even be brought on by the shortage of development of the upper bone that’s positioned far behind. Thus, the upper and lower teeth cannot relate properly.<\/p>\n
