The parody Twitter account of Recent York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, which had attracted tens-of-thousands of recent followers in addition to Elon Musk\u2019s attention was shut down on Friday.<\/p>\n
Twitter didn’t reply to requests from the media for comments.<\/p>\n
In recent days the account was within the highlight after Ocasio Cortez warned followers of the parody Twitter account (@AOCpress).<\/p>\n
The Recent York Democrat \u201clost\u2019 her blue check verification status earlier this 12 months when Twitter modified its subscription model to Twitter Blue. The \u201cofficial\u201d Ocasio Cortez account is now verified by a gray tick, because it\u2019s government related.<\/p>\n
Musk reacted to the tweet sent by this parody account, which claimed that a congresswoman was in love with him. Musk had previously blocked it.<\/p>\n

This Recent York politician will not be the primary high-profile individual to need to contend with a false account that spreads misinformation through Twitter or one other platform.<\/p>\n
