Since then, she has held quite a lot of jobs, including working as a Dental Assistant and adjunct teacher. Between 2016 and 2021, she worked as a grant author for a Community Motion Agency. In March 2021, she began Cornell’s Digital Marketing Certificate, leading Samantha to her current role at Liquid Web. She lives in Wisconsin along with her husband and their dogs, Ziggy Woofdust and Stevie Licks.

Now, Samantha helps customers and colleagues alike because the Content Marketer at Nexcess, one among Liquid Web’s Family of Brands.

Why did you join Liquid Web?

After studying digital marketing, I looked around for jobs that matched my skills. My first interview with Liquid Web was on St. Patrick’s Day, however it was greater than luck that brought me here. I used to be not only impressed by the corporate, however the individuals who interviewed me really made me need to work here. I liked the energy—open, honest, straightforward, and motivating. It was also different and galvanizing to see women in charge. I made a decision Liquid Web was a spot I desired to be.

What draws you to the hosting industry as a profession?

There may be nothing more amazing to me than being a component of how people gain access to things. I have been on computers since I used to be in kindergarten, and I’m one system analyst job away from being Angela Bennett in The Net. The whole lot has gone digital in my life in a single aspect or one other. The things we grew up watching and viewing as distant possibilities (like in The Cable Guy, “You may do your shopping at home, or play Mortal Kombat with a friend from Vietnam”) … we’re doing those things now. I order pizza without having to say a word. You may play Dungeons and Dragons without being in the identical room as your party. Or we will arrange a whole managed site or store environment for a customer to make use of, all without them ever having to the touch the server themselves.

We aren’t “the Web” here—but we’re renting houses on its street. And much more exciting, we’re helping folks open up shop (our customers) right within the neighborhood and supply them with lightning-fast, highly secure, and reliable infrastructure paired with service you can not beat.

Is there something specific about Liquid Web you simply love?

The people of Liquid Web are truly unique. From the various hobby Slack channels like baking, crafting, and gaming, to our Culture team’s initiatives to create engagement and participation, to our COO’s taste in music, everyone appears like they’re a minimum of a little bit bit like me, and that makes work incredibly comfortable. You may be yourself at Liquid Web because everyone meshes well.

What’s your favorite part in regards to the company culture at Liquid Web?

Liquid Web truly puts effort into making everyone feel welcome. I’m impressed at how much fun energy there’s here. And the activities often yield nice surprises. During a Hangout Roulette session, which is where persons are randomly grouped for a fun 30-minute chat, I learned that I wasn’t very removed from my coworkers. One among my colleagues is just an hour south of where I live. Being distant, you possibly can get the impression everyone’s far-off, but in point of fact, I could bump right into a coworker going shopping.

In your eyes, what is the difference between Liquid Web and other employers?

I didn’t expect this coming from the nonprofit world, but I genuinely feel just like the Leadership Team at Liquid Web cares about us as employees. What’s more, they care about our customers too, and I’ve personally seen what level of kindness they extend. There may be a giant heart behind the technology, and it shows.

When one among our customers was hit by tornadoes, we comped their service and sent them jackets and garments. And there are the causes Liquid Web supports, like Extra Life, which supports kid’s hospitals. The messages from leadership at all times showcase real, human, thoughtful concerns.

What’s the most important milestone you have achieved?

I loved creating our Holiday Survival Guide eBook last 12 months. By the point the guide was created, I felt like this was going to be incredibly useful for people, and that is my jam. My favorite a part of teaching was at all times explaining something in a way that spoke to students on their level and in a meaningful way. So I felt confident once I was done that the guide was really encompassing, and will even be used all year long—not only for the vacations—to actually help entrepreneurs out.

Tell us about a tremendous experience you may have had at Liquid Web.

At Liquid Web, you are on a team in the true sense of the word. Once I was being interviewed, one among my future bosses told me that I’d have a seat on the table if I worked here. That line was why I said yes to this job. The incontrovertible fact that they’ve kept that promise is why I really like working at Liquid Web. My opinions are heard, and I feel like I’m a part of the team, not only merely present.

What are you known for at Liquid Web? What do people specifically come to you for?

I’m on the organic side of promoting, so should you need something researched, written, or edited, I’m your girl. Organic marketing has to do with the channels we own—think our blog, knowledge base, and social posts. I really like marketing because I’ve wanted to write down professionally since I learned to write down. I like with the ability to sit in on a conversation, pick the things that may be most interesting about it, after which tell its story. That is what marketing is—telling stories just a few other ways, so irrespective of the audience, your message gets across.

What’s one thing you want our customers knew about their hosting?

Managed Hosting does not imply you are giving up control. Managed signifies that we handle the “dirty work” of server management, maintenance, security, and support, so you possibly can deal with what matters most: your actual work. Other things are handled too, resembling automatic updates, core WordPress platform updates, and migration assistance for outlets on our Nexcess Managed WooCommerce or Managed WordPress plans.

Managed Hosting means you recognize before your customers do if something’s strange within the neighborhood. That is just… it’s smart hosting, is what it’s.

Work aside, what are a few of your hobbies?

I’m finally back into gaming now that college is finished. Currently, I’m working my way through Witcher 3. I believe I even have around 900 hours of Animal Crossing logged by now. Does this count as a game? It’s just virtual house responsibilities.

What’s your favorite television show?

Either Forensic Files or Criminal Minds. Oh, and Workin’ Mothers and I’m Sorry are surely the funniest shows I’ve ever seen. They’re like a visible pint of Ben & Jerry’s for me.

In the event you could have dinner with one megastar [dead or alive], who wouldn’t it be?

Henry Cavill, but provided that he’s dressed up as Geralt of Rivia and brings one among the coconut cakes Tom Cruise sends him yearly.
