YouTube Tests Latest Community Notes Feed within the Mobile App

YouTube’s seeking to higher incorporate its text-based social engagement element, with a recent Community Posts feed for channels within the mobile app.

As explained by YouTube:

We’ve heard that YouTube users are searching for more ways to search out Community posts from creators, so we’re experimenting with a “posts-only” feed on the Home tab on mobile devices. In the event you’re within the experiment, you could see a “View all” button on single Community posts on Home, which you’ll be able to tap to view more posts from channels you’ve engaged with prior to now or posts that we expect you could like.”

So it’s essentially constructing a Twitter-like text update feed into YouTube, with posts from channels that you simply follow, and channels you may like, integrated right into a dedicated updates stream.

Which may very well be an interesting engagement element, and one other way for channel managers to maintain their audience informed of supplemental updates, other than just their uploads.

YouTube’s been working to make Community Posts a much bigger a part of community engagement, by adding pollsquizzes (available on Android, coming to iOS soon), disappearing updates, and more. YouTube also lowered the thresholds for qualification for Community Notes back in May, with all channel managers now capable of use the feature.

The brand new dedicated notes tab adds one other consideration, which could make it a more useful technique of outreach and awareness within the app.

YouTube says that it’s testing its recent Community Notes mobile feed with “a small group of users” on each Android and iOS.
