Every month, we recognize one among our Most Helpful Humans in Hosting®.
Meet Cristina Green
Cristina Green grew up in Lansing, where she attended Lansing Community College and received an associate degree in Humanities before transferring to Michigan State University. There, she got a BA in Anthropology with a deal with Archaeology, India, and spiritual studies.
While in college, she worked for Elderly Instruments, a musical instrument store selling vintage and antique instruments, working of their customer support department and assisting global customers. She coordinated with the IT department to create efficiencies of their processes, train team members, and document SOPs in a digital format.
Her experience there led to her working in additional technical support centers. Currently, Green is the Senior Manager of Customer Onboarding at Liquid Web, where she manages the Implementations and Migrations Teams.
In December 2021, she moved to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where she lives 100% off-grid in a cabin on 40 acres.
Why did you join Liquid Web?
Through the years, growing up in Lansing, I even have had many friends and acquaintances who worked for LiquidWeb. All of them described it as an excellent place to work.
What draws you to the hosting industry as a profession?
I get to be a part of something global.
Is there something specific about Liquid Web you simply love?
My mentors and leaders encourage work/life balance. I even have experienced burnout in previous positions by working across the clock. We will have balance and still get the job done by being efficient and improving our processes.
What’s your favorite part concerning the company culture at Liquid Web?
We welcome and embrace diversity. I get to interact on daily basis with people from all around the world.
What’s the most important milestone you’ve completed?
For me, it’s rising above my socioeconomic status. I grew up without rather a lot and had a rough childhood. Despite getting excellent grades, I barely graduated highschool because I used to be working 4 jobs to support myself after moving out of my family home at 16. It took me several years to pay my way through college by working multiple part-time jobs and side hustles. Now, I’m grateful to own my property and have a successful profession.
Tell us about a tremendous customer experience you’ve gotten had at Liquid Web.
My favorite customer experience is having the ability to turn situations around. I like having the ability to help customers resolve their hurdles and make the most of our unbelievable services and products.
What are you known for at Liquid Web? What do people specifically come to you for?
I’m a fixer. If a process is broken or doesn’t make sense, people bring it to me, and I can improve it. I take ownership of any piece of Liquid Web’s process and look to enhance it for the shopper, our teams, and the business.
What’s one thing you would like our customers knew about their hosting?
We’ve teams of outstanding people standing by to help them with any hurdles they experience.
What’s your nickname at Liquid Web, and why?
Some people call me “bestie” because they create plenty of problems to me. I either fix them or find the one who can.
Work aside, what are a few of your hobbies?
I like mountaineering, making art (I primarily create journals and do crochet), growing and preserving food, foraging, sustainable living, self-reliance, identifying trees and plants, and chopping firewood.
What’s your favorite TV show?
Community. My second favorite is Parks and Recreation. Each of them have great character development.
What’s your favorite app?
Whisk! Do you already know how recipes online make you scroll through a 19-page story about how this was their grandma’s famous cookies that she made for them growing up in Norway or whatnot? This app bypasses all of that. And you’ll be able to search by ingredients if you ought to use something up. Living in the course of nowhere, you’ve gotten to cook at home, and this app helps me be more creative.
Should you could have dinner with one superstar [dead or alive], who would it not be?
Dead: Frida Kahlo
Alive: Lizzo
