Meta Shares ‘Threads Dictionary’ to Keep Users As much as Speed on the Latest App Lingo

So is a post on Threads called a ‘Thread’ or a ‘post’? And what about re-posts – are they ‘re-threads’?

It’s all a bit up within the air in the mean time, within the (very) early days of the brand new Twitter-esque app, but to assist you with the newest lingo, the Threads team has shared a ‘Threads Dictionary’ to maintain you on top of things.

So, to make clear:

• Each discussion is known as a thread – so that you post a thread within the app
• A post is a person element inside a thread (though some persons are also referring to this as ‘threading’ or ‘stitching’)
• A shared thread is known as a repost – not a ‘re-thread’ or another variation
• Sharing another person’s post is a quote thread

It’s all pretty straightforward, there’s no latest language to learn, as such. But there’s going to be some discussion around what the actual act of threading must be – with even that adverb being a misinterpretation, based on this ‘dictionary’.

And if Threads becomes a thing (it’s already as much as 48 million profiles), perhaps that terminology evolves again, and we are going to find yourself seeing different appropriations of the title, morphing it into technically incorrect forms.

But at once, Meta’s trying to keep things clean, and according to what makes essentially the most sense.

Which, while you’re attempting to win over more users, might be the very best approach.
