Security Systems Are Struggling Again Encrypted Traffic
Traditional security systems aren’t holding as much as incoming encrypted traffic anymore. The variety of cyberattacks are on the rise – there have been 1.5 times as many ransomware attacks in 2021 in comparison with 2020 with over 230 million ransomware attacks in only the primary half of 2022. Attackers are clever as once they get past security systems they quickly hide their tracks and lay dormant so defenses don’t notice anything fallacious. Over 70% of networks are dark space – network infrastructure similar to firewalls, routers, proxies, and more meaning that when an attacker is in, they’ve nearly free reign inside a network.
This makes stopping threats before they breach a system much more vital, but many legacy tools which are still in use aren’t in a position to handle encrypted traffic. Many IT professionals lack tools to detect, intercept, and analyze threats from encrypted sources. Many are also commonly not familiar enough with a network to bear in mind enough of each communications device. Tools which are in a position to sort through encrypted traffic require decryption, adding cost, complexity, and time to anything done on that network.
